Re:Contemporary Arts Perth

"Re:CAP is a one-day celebration of Perth's public spaces and how arts and creativity can transform them. Experience surprising things in familiar spaces: music, installations, street art and performance, bringing some of Perth's historic vennels to life for 12 hours."
Along with six other artists, I was commissioned by Culture Perth and Kinross to create a new, multimedia temporary artwork in the vennels in Perth City Centre. The aim was to animate public space to test how creativity can be used to improve the spaces in which we work, live and play.
I created a mural, inviting the public to get involved and have a live blind portrait done of them. The vennel was buzzing with people interacting and stopping to spectate this live performance, in what is usually an overlooked and uninspiring space.
The final piece proved to be successful as it was easy to measure how many people engaged directly with the artwork. In 8 hours I completed 83 portraits.
