" The Grass Was Greener "
Egypt is currently going through rabid urban transformation, building a new capital to the east of Cairo. For this purpose, major infrastructure projects have been started, the old streets and roads are being expanded and new roads and bridges are built to help the transformation.
"Nothing should stand in the way of the new roads" the government declared. The new constructions are not without a cost and among the things that suffered the most is the green areas that have been removed for the new bridges and roads.
Gradually the familiar neighborhoods transformed into soulless and brutal places. The new reality gave me a sense of alienation so I started visiting public parks regularly to overcome this feeling and to reconnect with nature but was confronted by the decay of this parks so I started taking photos that represented both my feeling of nostalgia to my childhood city and my alienation in the new reality.
