Ali Mesiwala, MD, possesses more than 14 years of relevant experience in his role as a neurosurgeon and medical director of the Pomona, California-based Chaparral Medical Group. Beyond his work, Ali Mesiwala, MD, is a founding member of the Claremont Museum of Art (CMA).

Established in 2004 to celebrate the artistic legacy of Claremont and promote cultural vitality, CMA hosts a variety of educational programs, one of which is Project ARTstART. Launched in 2011 and directed by Rich Deely, the program fosters a love and appreciation of the arts through all levels of the education system. Project ARTstART prompts high school students, under guidance from college mentors, to lead exhibit-based art lessons for elementary school students.

The student-teachers visit with elementary classes in the Claremont school system multiple times per year and conduct lessons in local museums. The program has a roster of more than 70 Claremont High School students who lead art-driven education efforts for students in Grades 4 through 6 at five different elementary schools.
