Conductor’s podium for Estonian Song Festival

The Estonian Song Festival is an old and noble tradition, where choir conductor has a prominent role to play. To make sure that new rostrum design will help conductor to be visible and heard, I wanted to combine functionality, technology and aesthetic appearance of the podium in the most symbiotic way. The name Crossing (Risttee in estonian) is derived from the nature of design. In the modern days we would say ‘cross-way’, that there’s more than one way to continue as a society. Estonian word ‘Risttee’ has as well another cultural anthropological and more mythical meaning. Indigenous Estonians (maarahvas) new that at midnight you have to go to the crossroad and hark!
