Genomics Ontology describes the relationship between the body of knowledge accumulated by science and the scientists that produce this knowledge. Several classes were defined including Publication, Researcher, Institution and Research Field. Loading and manipulating this ontology requires Protege 3.4.8.
Genomics Ontology is implemented both as a frame based ontology (black background) as well as an OWL ontology (white background).

Hyopnymy denotes an is-a relationship. Is-a relationships denote generality. If A is-a B, then A is a more specific type of B.
OWL ontologies can be used with reasoners. Protege has multiple reasoners including Fact++ and Pellet.
