RSA 2016/2017 Student Design Awards Proposal
Individual Project (Promo Video) | Circular Futures Brief
With India being third in place for being the largest coconut supplier in the world, its daily wastage can
readily be converted into sanitary pads for the masses, maximising the plant to its full value for rural India.
Coir Care aims to enable women to manage their periods with dignity, yet do their part for the environment as well.

Coir Care’s biodegradable sanitary pads sets itself apart from the norm by providing comfort to the female population at
a low cost, with an all-in-one packaging for easy disposal. Utilising properties of highly absorbent coconut husk and pulp paper,
the pads come with an integral drawstring function that allows women to dispose their pads without worrying about hygiene,
disease contamination or the fear of taboo. The pads’ biodegradable quality would counter the waste and segregation issue
India is silent battling, as well as keep the waste workers safe from sexually transmitted diseases and infections.
