Forgotten Nature

This is a fictional work created for a module called "Publication Design". The assignment required us to come up with a publication with a selected brief. The particular brief required us to express the beauty of parks, with National Parks as our specific client.

For this particular assignment, I planned to create a book, expressing the forgotten beauty of parks from across Singapore, with intentions to purposefully preserve them in my publication titled—Forgotten Nature. Therefore, the title of the books NSEW, stands for North, South, East, West.

The intention of preserving their beauty led me to create the entire publication in a disguise of a flower press, a tool used to press flowers to preserve its beauty. In the flower press I have hand-made are four booklets, namely, N, S, E, W.
In this flower press reveals the four books, N, S, E, W, which stands for North, South, East, West, respectively.
"North" book is not about a park, but an encyclopedia of the plants found and collected in the rest of the books. Therefore, it is called Happenstance.
For the "South" book, "East" book and "West" book, I travelled to Singapore Botanic Gardens, Pasir Ris Park and Chinese Garden respectively. I went to capture the travel there, things to eat, things to do and more imperatively, the beautiful nature, which I then illustrated to mimic vintage scientific illustration posters. Below are some of the highlights of the books. To view the entire book in a PDF viewer format, click here!
Thank you for viewing this particular project and I hope you learned something new!
