Created for my advanced typography class, (Herbal) Hibiscus is a reader that is focused on relaying the social and cultural significance of the tropical hibiscus flower.
The book consists of five articles, each expressing a different aspect of the plant from its herbal, cultural and medicinal uses to the simple wonders of its species.
Designed for black and white printing, the use of compelling imagery as texture and over-exaggerated scale, is a crucial component in bringing out the provoking nature of the content.
Special attention is given to the treatment of different sections featured throughout the individual articles from recipe sections and pullquotes to sections detailing steps-by-step guides.
