CABINET DESIGN IN MINIATURE

I have the great pleasure to stay in Didier´s Wetzel and Noelle Jeanbloch-Barre's atelier, learning for a year. They work in millimeter precision with all the pieces exactly as if they were made at real scale.

This table has been designed by Didier and created by me in his atelier.

This miniature is made of Cherry Wood in 1.12 scale and composed of 63 pieces.  Finished with dye and wax. It took me about 40 days to make it.

I considered animating the mechanism to show how it works, it blows my mind.
Let's take a look at the details.
During this process I learned how to cut, turn, measure, polish and finish the wood with tint and encaustic wax. Even so, we worked a lot with brass, giving it the shape we wanted and changing it into a dark look.

Some of the most tricky and accurate processes were related with preparing the joints between wood and brass. The most difficult part was bending the wood to adjust the little pulleys. They need to function properly to allow the rope slide through. I had to repeat it a few times.
And of course, we dismantled our miniature over and over again to check if the new pieces were fitting well before the glued process.
Here there is a look at the main structure after applying glue.
Thanks for watching
