CA’ ROMANINO

PERFUME

Remembrance of Things Past. Making an irrational identity.

Starting from this caption the project made with Stefania Borasca during the course of Patrick Lacey and Ben Cain involve the conception of identity, that deals with concrete space and the immaterial presences inside it that our mind records. Sometimes the instinctual feelings, sensations, scents, fragments, live in our mind the memory of a place we’ve been to, more than the people we met there. With the assumption that all places develop their own “fragrance”, an identity perfume that link space and specific experience, the project go deeper in the old traditions of perfume making. Engaging an unexpected collaboration with an amateur perfumer we collected from this amazing De Carlo’s modernist house Ca’ Romanino (Urbino,

PU) a series of native herbs, plants and flowers.

During the happening organised by the class, local food productors, and Ca’ Romanino foundation
and volunteers, the house was impregnated by the fragrance, also gifts in business cards to visitors,
in order to connect their experience at the house with an unconscious smell of herbs, nature

and marchigian countryside.
