Devils Trade Viktor Loov for Pair of Minor League

Andrew (Drew) Horun is a graduate of New Jersey's Phillipsburg High School where he was a member of its wrestling team. Now supporting student athletes as an assistant soccer and wrestling coach, Andrew Horun is a passionate fan of professional sports teams in the tri-state area, including the New Jersey Devils of the National Hockey League (NHL).

The Devils added to its prospect pool on February 8 by trading 25-year-old Swedish defenseman Viktor Loov to the Minnesota Wild for forwards Christoph Bertschy and Mario Lucia. A seventh-round selection of the Toronto Maple Leafs in the 2012 NHL Entry Draft, Loov played 36 games for the Devils' American Hockey League (AHL) affiliate in Binghamton this season where he recorded 5 goals and 12 assists. 

Bertschy is a 23-year-old center from Switzerland who has played 9 career games with Minnesota, but spent the majority of his career with its AHL affiliate in Iowa, where he has 76 points in 184 career games. Lucia, meanwhile, is a 24-year-old former second-round pick of the Wild who has 41 points in 93 career AHL games. Prior to making his pro debut in 2015, he was a four-year standout at Notre Dame, where he accumulated 110 points in 151 games.
