This is the result of a First Year Design Student project where we had to reconceptualise and redesign a logo for a Canadian organisation. I decided to go with the Canadian Space Agency.
In planning this logo, I really wanted to create something fresh and vastly different from the existing space agency branding I had seen; I wanted to steer clear of the blue-black-red colour scheme that is so common, and utilise some different and more modern imagery. I wanted the logo to speak to the extremely varied audience exposed to the CSA. For this reason I chose to stick to clean and simple shapes, with and energetic focal point.
I chose this orange and purple colour scheme for a number of reasons. First, I wanted a variety of hues to reflect the diverse backgrounds, experiences and aspirations of Canadians. Also, the warm colours bring energy to the logo, without being too jarring. I feel that the purple is a good representation of the night sky while the orange can represent the sun, the horizon or a new beginning.
