Sustainable Design // Terraform London

“From talking about the latest Game of Thrones episode over lunch, to attending
conventions across the world, the majority of us interact with stories with greater
enthusiasm than real life issues. But what if we could change this? What if we could
redirect this intrigue and consumption of stories and fiction, and channel it into
engagement with unattractive real life narratives. Terraform London introduces
the bridging of Fandom, with avoided and unpopular issues. From doing the dishes
to tackling Climate Change, this project considers a new way of
creatively addressing problems.”

Terraform London is a project focussed on how we can use design to creatively solve social and environmental problems, how we can rethink the way we address contemporary issues and how we can use stories to do this. Spanning creative disciplines from illustration and graphic design, to experience, experimental and immersive design, this project is an environmental campaign, designed around the concept of "POFING" (Productive Outcome Fanning). POFING itself represents the fusion of intriguing stories with real life issues - Terraform London has focussed this idea into the issues of sustainability.

Using props, costumes, and the immersive sci-fi storyline, Terraform London challenges people to engage more viscerally with the bigger issue of Climate Change. The familiarity of astronauts, geodesic domes and retro sci-fi imagery captivates attention and catalyses the activity of making London a more hospitable city.
