An accomplished senior healthcare executive, Charles Clement has served senior administrative posts with the Anchorage, Alaska-based offices of Aetna US Healthcare and the Southcentral Foundation. For the past six years, Charles Clement has managed the $155-million operations of SouthEast Alaska Regional Health Consortium (SEARHC). SEARHC provides access to medical doctors and spearheads a range of heath and wellness services.
SEARHC recently sponsored an extremely unique healing event through its branch in Sitka, Alaska. In celebration of the winter solstice, the organization asked members of the general public to participate in a traditional sweat at its sweat lodge (located adjacent to the SEARHC Fitness Center).
A spiritual ceremony of prayer and restoration, this seasonal sweat proceeded under the skilled direction of tribal elders who know all the traditions and songs as well as safety protocols that are associated with this sacred event. The free event lasted several hours and attracted a range of Sitka residents.
