Grow wanted to sponsor a large scale mural in our home towns up and coming arts district and asked me to pitch ideas that would be both inspiring and interactive. I had an idea prepared and set about proving that it could be done. Through experimentation I arrived at a process that worked. By day we would have a large mural flush with detail and rendered in soft pleasing colors, by night we would have 3 murals, each distinct and each visible only under colored light. 

For interaction I worked closely with a developer at Grow. Colored lighting was installed along the top edge of the mural while far above a heat sensitive camera tracked movement of passers by. A wash of color would follow each viewer as they came close and moved around the space in front of the 40' installation.
