Project Management and Construction of a WordPress Website: The Will To Drive
For my last major assessment at TAFE I was to complete a group project where we were placed into groups of 4 people. I took the reigns on this project and assumed the role of project manager and lead web designer/developer.
The first thing i had to do was break down this project into individual tasks and assign them evenly and accordingly among my team. To do this I used an online task managing application called asana.
Asana Tasks
Our first task we completed as a team was a brain storm to generate ideas for a mind map.

Next i had my team work on their individual sections of the project brief.

After we had put together the project brief, an in depth Gannt chart was created by Darcey and budget table to present to the client to give them a more detailed idea of how long each task will take, how much it will cost them for the completion of the project and what expenses will be incurred during the project life-cycle so as to justify the price charged.

Next i had my Junior Designer create a mood board and do some competition research.
Next i was to create a site map to show the proposed flow of the website to the client

Then I had my Junior Developer create a mood board and do some market research
Mood Board & Market Research
While the Junior developer was creating the mood board and conducting research on the competition i had the junior designer create some wire frames for the site.

My junior Developer then created some mock-ups using the layout from the wire-frames and colour and font selection defined in the mood board.

Finally as the lead developer i had to start developing the WordPress website. I did this by starting off with codeanywhere.com but I ran into some issues so I exported my site and database then imported it using an online cloud development environment called cloud9 which can be found at c9.io. First I installed my exported version of WordPress on the server then i accessed the PHP my admin, made a matching database name and imported my database, edited my site urls and then adjusted my permalinks in the WordPress admin panel. I completed my first layout for the site and sought feedback from my teacher/client.

While i was making my final adjustments i had my junior developer complete some research on a Facebook marketing campaign.

After we had all documentation and designs complete we had the client complete a task sign off sheet before handing over the final product.

For this project I recorded my hours using Toggl. below you will find my Toggl report and my personally assigned Asana tasks.
