Verzuckert Visual Identity

What do you get when you get an owner who’s passionate about cakes and people? You get ‘Verzuckert’ (German for sugar-coated). Located in the city of Salzburg, this small bakery uses these two passions to shape the concept behind the business.

The owner, Julia, offers a whole range of services, including baking classes for making cupcakes, wedding cakes or even Birthday cakes. She will even help those last minute people with cake emergencies (In case your cake didn’t come out as planned, Julia will help you out). Besides the cakes that you will find in the shop you can also get some delectable organic ice cream – made in Austria of course.

By already having such a palatable experience to build off, the identity had to really reflect the shop and the interior. So from an early stage it was decided that the design should lean more to the feminine side, and it should be very colourful. The logo type was custom made for the project and was supposed to give a feeling of sugar-lettering that you would typically find on cake. Icons were also purpose made for the project and were set in blue and pink to perfectly convey the delicious colours often found on cakes and ice cream. These colours also helped to balance some more masculine feelings in the project, because guys like cake too!
