Over his 22 years as president of Preferred Utilities Manufacturing Corporation, Redding, CT-based professional David Bohn has led the company to revenue increases of nearly 400 percent. Outside of his professional life in Redding, CT, David Bohn is a philanthropic individual who supports a number of prominent nonprofit organizations, including the American Heart Association.

In response to the recent 2016 National Survey of Children’s Health (NSCH) results, the American Heart Association says it’s time to do more to address the growing rate of obesity in children. According to the data, approximately 30 percent of children between the ages of 10 and 17 fall into either the overweight or obese category, which could make them more likely to develop significant health problems later in life.

In her comments on the results, AHA CEO Nancy Brown called upon civic leaders to keep pressing forward in the development of programs to help combat this growing epidemic. Initiatives that push children toward physical activity and proper nutrition that’s affordable should be the primary focus, according to Brown.
