I captured sequences direct from the game. Thanks to HLAE we can record multiple layers (or streams). Usually, I recorded 3 layers matteEntity (dynamic and animated in-game 3d models like characters and weapons) matteWorld (rest of the level, basically mask for the first layer) and Zdepth (well, it's a depth layer).
In some scenes I required camera information. HLAE allows you to export this info in BVH file (moreover, you can save and edit camera path). In my case bvh just doesn't work well, so I decided to track all sequences. 
In all scenarios with first person sequence I needed UI on a weapon. So I tracked weapon with standard ae tracker, also I used it on other objects that must look at the camera all the time. For 3D tracking I also picked standard AE plugin.
About UI part. I did around 70 micro FUI elements. 3 weapon HUD composition. UI for the shop and 4 stats windows. Total length of all clips with motion graphics are: 01min 21sec
