After creating 2D backgrounds for the calendar, I gave creative direction to an external CGI company to deliver 12 different and interesting renderings of the Vodafone McLaren Mercedes MP4-27 race car from wire frame to the final look of the car. I had to ensure that we simulated realistic chrome reflections and corrected any inconsistencies such as the driver’s posture, as well as ensuring affiliates logos are legible and correctly presented before achieving final McLaren team approval and artworking the whole document. I worked closely with printers on finishing techniques and paper stocks, using matte lamination, spot varnish, and foil blocking to make this piece really stand out from the crowd.
