Life of Your Words (2011) is custom artificial life software, which continuously analyzes discussion on social network twitter. Software searches for various keywords related to presence and absence of life and according to their appearance, which is being analyzed every couple of seconds, affects the presence of artificial life. It however doesn't affect this life directly, but instead through small changes in its environment, creating autonomous and dynamic model of life and following its own rules. A global discussion about life, coming from over 180 million entries daily, is here a condition for organism to survive.
Life of Your words is dealing with the theme of "living nature", which has become a crucial term since development of biotechnology and genetic engineering. With development of these scientific fields, which gave us enormous power over the future shape of nature and living, it is important to repeatedly re-evaluate the meaning of life and its all respective terms. It is becoming more important to keep in mind our responsibility which comes together with these scientific approaches, as well as their possible social, ethical and political implications. I believe this should not be only a part of academic discussion, but it should become a broader public discussion of a subject. I've therefore created a software, which analyzes ongoing activity on social network Twitter, and accepted it as a sample of global vocabulary, searching for keywords related to life and, on the contrary, to its absence.
Such words as "life, vitality, aliveness, survival, birth" versus "death, dying, decease, perish"... are transformed into a visual form – the simulation of a simple life.
