Rangers Re-Sign Mika Zibanejad

The recipient of a bachelor's in biology from the University of Colorado, Dr. Steven Armus is a physician who is also a horticulture specialist with over 15 years of experience in prairie land restoration. Outside of his professional responsibilities, Dr. Steven Armus enjoys following his favorite National Hockey League (NHL) team, the New York Rangers.

Last July, the Rangers altered the composition of its team by dealing center Derick Brassard and a 2018 seventh-round draft pick to the Ottawa Senators in exchange for Mika Zibanejad and a 2018 second-round draft pick. The move worked out well for the Rangers, as Zibanejad recorded 37 points in 56 games and earned the organization's trust as a first-line center. In June of this year, the Rangers dealt Derek Stepan to the Arizona Coyotes and, as a result, freed up more ice time and responsibilities for Zibanejad.

As a sign of that trust, the Rangers signed the 24-year-old Swede to a five-year, $26.75 million contract that will keep him in New York through the 2021-22 season. The contract was signed just prior to Zibanejad's arbitration hearing. The former sixth overall pick in the 2011 NHL Draft earned $2.63 million last season and has 188 points in 337 career games.
