Brooklyn Nets Make Pair of Trades to Rebuild Team

A student and wrestling coach at Phillipsburg High School, Andrew "Drew" Horun is a community-minded individual who supports the Greek Catholic Union and Warren County ARC. Beyond wrestling and his charitable endeavors, Andrew Horun is a fan of the National Basketball Association's (NBA) Brooklyn Nets.

The Nets have missed the playoffs in each of the past two seasons, but the team is hoping to turn the corner by acquiring young players and draft picks. On June 20, the Nets sent veteran Brook Lopez and the 27th overall pick in the 2017 NBA Draft to the Los Angeles Lakers in exchange for Timofey Mozgov and D'Angelo Russell, a 21-year-old point guard who was selected second overall in the 2015 NBA Draft. In July, the team continued that strategy by dealing center Justin Hamilton to the Toronto Raptors in exchange for DeMarre Carroll and two draft picks.

The Raptors signed Carroll to a four-year, $58-million contract in the 2015 offseason, but the small forward has been a disappointment in Toronto. He averaged just 8.9 points last season and will be looking to revitalize his career in Brooklyn.
