Before becoming a multimedia solutions consultant for Clipper Magazine in Lake County, Illinois, Jeanne Marcis attended the University of Iowa, where she studied communications. Jeanne Marcis also attended Southern Illinois University (SIU) School of Communications in Carbondale, Illinois, earning a bachelor of science in journalism/sociology in 1993.

Created in 1953, the School of Communications--now known as the College of Mass Communication and Media Arts--at SIU is dedicated to training students in the creative process of communications and media arts. The College strives to instill a desire for using media to create persuasive educational messages as well as teaching critical thinking and promoting ethical and responsible content.

The College of Mass Communication and Media Arts uses a variety of programs to train students in communicating with the public, including digital media arts and animation. Media arts includes the use of storytelling along with computer animation, an increasingly popular form of advertising.
