IPSAC-VN International Scholarship Program

An award-winning medical researcher, Mark Holterman, MD, studies regenerative medicine and autoimmunity as the chief medical officer and CEO of Mariam Global Health. Beyond promoting medical advances, Dr. Mark Holterman serves on the board of the International Pediatric Specialists Alliance for the Children of Vietnam (IPSAC-VN).

A philanthropic organization, the IPSAC-VN improves pediatric care for children in Vietnam by providing educational exchanges and academic support through such programs as the IPSAC-VN International Scholarship Program.

The organization’s International Scholarship Program provides education to nurses, allied medical personnel, and physicians in Vietnam who are in training or already licensed. This education is individually tailored and occurs at an ACGME-accredited medical institution in the United States.

All scholars involved in the International Scholarship Program must have a good command of the English language and provide a letter from their home institution that confirms they are committed to improving health care in Vietnam. Participants in the program are given $2,500 to assist with travel, educational expenses, and room and board during their one- to two-month stay in the United States. Throughout their stays, scholars are given the chance to observe clinical practices or complete research training.

Once the program is completed, scholars receive a certificate that recognizes their accomplishments. They subsequently return to their original institution in Vietnam and present what they have learned.
