Open Source Scroll Saw
In this project I explored the application of open source ideology to large scale tools.
The fully functioning scroll saw is constructed entirely out of commonly available timber. This use of traditional joinery techniques makes the saw blade the only metal hardware required to make such a complicated machine. These steps have been taken to make the designing and building of this saw as accessible as possible.
A fully illustrated set of instructions and schematics are available online. Hopefully the downloading and building of this saw will help others understand the design behind everyday tools, allowing them to improve on this saw and further develop the available online plans.
