As a well-rounded student-athlete, Andrew (Drew) Horun competed on the Phillipsburg High School wrestling team and earned recognition as a member of the National Honor Society. Besides balancing academics and extracurricular activities, Andrew Horun also served on the Lopatcong Township Pool staff as a cook/cashier and helped as an elementary school assistant soccer coach. With a love for sports, Drew enjoys following the New York Giants, who have had a couple players participate in National Donut Day over the years.

Started in the mid-1930s, National Donut Day was celebrated this year on Friday, June 2, 2017. Five years ago, Giants’ quarterback Eli Manning celebrated the day by working the register at a local Dunkin’ Donuts franchise in Secaucus. Surprising customers in the drive-thru, the publicity opportunity in 2012 helped give birth to lasting partnership between Dunkin’ Donuts and Manning.

Presently, the two-time Super Bowl MVP has sponsored a slew of promotions and starred in many commercials for the popular donut store. However, Manning is not the only New York Giants player to capitalize on the celebratory day.

Former team offensive lineman Shaun O’Hara has also helped give praise to the delicious pastry. In 2015, the former center spent some time at a local Dunkin’ Donuts taking food orders, handing out donuts, and surprising a few patrons with a free breakfast.
