Initiatives of the AAP's Division of Innovation

A physician with a diverse educational background beyond medicine, Dr. Ramesh Sachdeva holds a DBA (doctor of business administration) from the University of Texas School of Public Health, a JD from Marquettte University Law School, and a PhD in epidemiology from the University of Strathclyde in the United Kingdom. Dr. Ramesh Sachdeva leverages his extensive and far-ranging training to serve as associate executive director American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP), where he created the Division of Innovation. 

The AAP's Division of Innovation has developed several key programs and initiatives, including the Coordinating Center for Children and Youth with Epilepsy. The Center works to develop community-based care systems in order to ensure children with epilepsy have access to medical and support services. Another key initiative of the Division of Innovation is the Quality Improvement Innovation: Improving Access to Care for Children and Youth with Endocrinology Needs, which aims to address the lack of pediatric endocrinologists. 

The AAP's Division of Innovation also works to improve access to care via videoconferencing through its Section on Telehealth Care. Lastly, the Division collaborates with the national Climate for Health movement to fight climate change at the organizational level.
