Collaboration with Ubisoft | Motion Capture Suit

I worked in a 13-person team for redesigning the first-person camera headpiece and mocap suit used in Ubisoft Toronto’s motion capture studio. Our interdisciplinary research and practice involved with materialization, user experience, industrial design, 3D printing, engineering and rapid prototyping. The final works have been praised by Ubisoft staff and potentially change Ubisoft’s motion capture process.

Ubisoft suffers from their mocap suit’s external noise mainly caused by the velcro. The technicians had to spend a very long time to emulate the noise in post production. Our team’s approach was to use mesh layers to secure the marks instead of velcro.
