Conceptual and graphic evolution for Logistics Business flow
Design thinking is an innovative approach to solving problems. It’s human centric – focusing on the audience – involves development and testing of hypotheses, and rapid and frequent prototyping.
The methodology commonly referred to as design thinking is a proven and repeatable problem-solving protocol that any business or profession can employ to achieve extraordinary results.
Design Thinking refers to the methods and processes for investigating ill-defined problems, acquiring information, analyzing knowledge, and positing solutions in the design and planning fields. As a style of thinking, it is generally considered the ability to combine empathy for the context of a problem, creativity in the generation of insights and solutions, and rationality to analyze and fit solutions to the context.
Basically Design thinking consists of four key elements.
In this case, first, we defined that the problem was the difficult of CEVA Matrix company to explain their complex management of the flow of resources, their logistics solutions. We considered making an infographic "map" to visualize better this "business flow" (*picture 1). We agreed that an engine would be a good element to illustrate this.
We thought that we needed a simplified version of the engine "parts" and "functions" of this motor, it resulted in a one color version, like a radiography view. Then we put color in the engine´s parts to make the company divisions more clear. (*picture 2, 3, 4.)
The idea of the engine was too near of an automotive industry esthetic, so we decided to continue with the molecule/orbit idea. (*from picture 5)
We made several versions of the molecule and the possible ways of showing this "business flow".
Finally, we´ve chosen a simple molecule version with the company´s burgundy corporative color. We also change the icons in order to make it more interesting visually. (*last picture)
This process took about 6 months, with a weekly meeting and permanent contact with the client.
