About Beyond the Benches

BEYONDTHEBENCHES, LLC.

To continue and grow we developed a new concept to bring the basketball world together online, we created the website called BeyondTheBenches.com in 2006.  Again, BTB was going to be the first of its kind web-based video technology, revolutionize the way professional and collegiate teams worldwide evaluate available talent.

With more then three billion people playing basketball worldwide, basketball had become big business globally.  To succeed in today's highly competitive environments, teams must operate in a cost effective and time efficent manner.  The need for player video on demand was crucial and that is why BTB had developed the world's first video library of amateur and professional athletes.

And with BTB's streaming full-game footage, available by subscription or per usage, scouts, coaches, and general managers can maximize their scouting efforts to encure swift and accurate player personnel decisions.

Our site benefits:
-International teams seeking American athletes,
-American players looking to showcase their skills to professional clubs worldwide,
-Amateur players seeking college scholarships,
-NBA teams evaluating talent around the globe,
-Minor league basketball teams,
-U.S. colleges worldwide recruiting efforts,
-Media personnel seeking footage of amateur/professional players worldwide,
-International showcase events, pre-draft camps and clinics.

My goal was to grow this concept into a terrific revenue stream nationally for our investors.  My thoughts were the following--to brand a seperate program called, "XYZ Academy" or whatever name came up-- We would first focus on designing a program that would create added value for the organization and get those folks excited that we were cutting edge-- always looking for ways to evalutate the interview process of athletes both in the short and long term.  Using our video streaming capability for potential players and "steam line" the entire recruiting process.

For example: we create a professional profile for John Smith and stream his video for our larger clients. Our client list takes a look at John and decides to bring him in for a showcase. Or sends him and email to say sorry we are looking for someone with a "flowery smile" - then everyone knows where each other stands....etc....etc...and move on.

We knew this recruiting process can be difficult.  Why not make it easier and experience the "Stream" with XYZ Academy.
If the program proved to be successful, we could then lean on one select groups (sales) to help us market this concept to other sports groups nationwide.  This select group (sales) would then be entitled to a percentage on all revenue generated from video sales from each of these sports groups.  This could have become a wonderful profit center if put together and marketed correctly.
The profile page below was one of the standard wireframes we used for our paid professional basketball clients that were housed on beyondthebenches.com.

CUSTOM Video Library with player controls--interesting page we put together.  Although this image below does not have the video player tools I customized for the basketball coaches, this particular flv player allowed us to enable in the code a number of cool functions (ie.  Fast forward and reverse buttons, pause buttons and time remaining).  I would have liked to develope this more!

I used these concepts to develop other custom pages for teams and sports agents on my beyondthebenches.com site.
