Boasting more than two decades of experience in the mortgage industry, Gavin Ekstrom serves as senior area manager at Citywide Home Loans in Colorado, a post he has held since 2005. Apart from his work helping people finance their homes, Gavin Ekstrom supports a number of charitable organizations, including the Boys and Girls Clubs of America.
As part of a joint initiative, the Boys and Girls Clubs of America and the United Parcel Service (UPS) have teamed up for the past nine years in a program called UPS Road Code. Designed for teenagers, the program helps raise awareness about safe driving habits. As part of the program, teenage drivers have the opportunity to test out their driving skills in a virtual simulator, and, now, the two organizations are rolling out online tools that parents can use to educate their soon-to-be drivers about what being out on the road is really like.
The core part of the program is taught by more than a hundred volunteer UPS workers who have made a commitment to be locally involved where they live. Many of the tenets of the program are similar to what UPS drivers are taught when they are brought on to work for the company.
