Goodman art center visit. (Reflection)

Gillman Art Center visit.

The first thing came to my mind is that the space is more open than the campus we have right now. I feel like when doing art or art alike, the space and environment is one of the important things. We walked around and Nadia explained to us every time when we passed a building by building, in some sad emotion because the campus meant alot to her as a student and earlier years. Also it's quite surprising even though the campus has more individual rooms to stay in as own studio, it can't house enough student as the current LaSalle.

We were introduced into few artists who works there and visited their studio spaces. The first artist uses pencil and water-colour mainly to make her artworks. It sounds like an easy techniques for artwork but after she explained why she chooses the mediums and how she applies them with her context to give out, I looked closely into one of her artworks and saw what she meant. The techniques are really carefully put into to make the artwork.

Another artist to inspire me was the one who does sculptures with found objects, but he also paints somehow minimalistic or pop art alike. The artworks are done by thinking about how he wanted to apply and then he went to search for the materials at the specific places to make a sculpture out of it.

The last we visited is Sai's studio space. Just before we stepped into his space, there are some plants he grew infront of the doorstep which reminds me of an artist from my country who lives really peaceful and he grows alot of plants and trees and sometimes uses them as an artwork. The first thing I saw is the enormous amount of wood and materials and all the tools piled up in the room like an hardware store, which reflects on myself. Because wherever I do work or stay, there will be more stuff and stuff piling because I like to collect and think about how I can use those things. After we listened to Sai as he introduced himself, the more I realised I'm kind of becoming alike him. The earlier struggles of finding works and doing art, rejected projects and depressions.
