Beauty Decay is an art products store located in Saint Petersburg, offering a wide range of professional art supplies, stylish accessories and personal belongings, interior elements for decorating living and working spaces, edgy furniture, paintings and prints, unusual gifts for friends and relatives, children’s clothing, toys, and many other interesting things.

Beauty Decay brings together works of more than 70 individual designers and brands — from Sherry Bobbins to Incognito to Handwers and Osmico — thus giving prominent and budding handmaders and artists a wonderful opportunity for presentation, promotion and sale of their products all over Russia and abroad.

Apart from the commercial side, Beauty Decay serves as an open source for publishing materials on visual arts, design and hand-made issues thus helping authors share their creative vision and innovative ideas with colleagues and the world.

Our approach to the project

When we received an order for development of the online marketplace for this company, we had initially been aware of that the task, on the one hand, was to provide complicated functionality specific for all the e-marketing resources and, on the other hand, to accept a serious challenge in graphic design, since the site of the art store must be at least as nice-looking as the accessories it carries.

The task was even more complicated as the customer’s request was rather non-standard: we had to seamlessly couple an online store with a blogging platform in one web resource.

Considering this, we approached the project utilizing the most advanced web-development technologies and using all the professional knowledge, experience and skills of our creative and coherent team.

Our product

By joining efforts of our specialists, we have created the product that has not only met the customer’s expectations but also left us proud of our job. The major advantage of the site we developed is the simplicity of its design, both functional and graphic. Despite it features functionality of an online store and a blogging platform simultaneously, we have managed to keep its interface light, easy-to-use and uncluttered.

The main page meets the visitor with an unobtrusive slider showcasing actual must-haves from various sections of the product catalog. In the main content block beneath the slider, the user can browse the most popular goods and new additions displayed in the form of colorful photos with short descriptions. On the sidebars, we have placed the tree of available items and the list of brands and individual designers whose works are represented in the store.

The header and footer are not glaring but well thought-out, designed in the classic style and featuring standard options of registration and logging in, viewing the wish list and shopping cart, joining the company’s communities in social networks, and providing the visitor with the contact details and information about payment methods, delivery conditions and return policy.
