Concept Artwork created in Maxon Cinema 4D
Product Concept Visualisation.
Iterations of my process for finding a way to visually communicate the way that innovation and green technology is used to create fuel from organic wooden material.

No stock photos or textures were used in the creation of these images.
All images are created in Maxon Cinema 4D R18.

1st Draft
Early iterations focused on branding the end user vehicles with organic wooden materials set in an generic white industrial environment.
2nd Draft
Focused on removing everything that was not telling the story in the most efficient way. A natural step was to focus on only one vehicle and try to place it in a natural white environment.
3rd Draft
I never felt that the story was told efficiently so I took a step back and tried to connect the origin (the pine tree) with the end user (vehicles). If all raw material needed for the fuel originate from debree and wood chips then maybe there could be a way to simply chop the wood into fine pieces.
Base geometry comprised of a simple cylinder. Added some height segments in order to ease with sculpting later on.
By creating a simple landscape and inverting it on its Y-axis I made a rough mold for the base chipping of the wood. And using built in features in Cinema 4D I then started sculpting finer details in the wooden material to create the impression of made made cuts going in all directions. After subdividing a few times and working my way into the fine details i finally used a stencil and the inverted pull tool to create ridges and wooden fibre geometry.
Early texture attempt. Trying to make the material look as close to pine wood as possible while still maintaining a small enough level of detail to ensure that the entire scene would render (somewhat) fast on my machine.
Finally I introduced the vehicle models and imposed them into the wooden geometry. Finishing touches included adding some additional wood bark surface texturing and smallar elements like wood chips.
4th Draft
Added some generic landscape elements to create a sense of imperial value. A visual way of communicating that major benefits can rise from small solutions.
And in the end help to create a sustainable world.
Lots of Kärlek from Sweden!
And a big thank you from Sweden to the inspirational people over at GreyscaleGorilla for taking the time to create valuable software and provide massive amounts of educational content aiding all users of Cinema 4D world wide. If you haven't stopped by their site yet do so now!
