Ali Mesiwala, MD, is an experienced neurosurgeon who serves as medical director at the Chaparral Medical Group in Pomona, California. In addition to his professional work at Chaparral, Ali Mesiwala works as a board member for the International Society for Minimal Intervention in Spinal Surgery (ISMISS).

Officially organized as a nonprofit organization in 1989, ISMISS was first conceived at the GIEDA-BRUXELLES Meeting in 1988 by several leading spinal surgeons. The organization works to coordinate educational activities and professional exchanges on a global scale to further expertise in minimally invasive and endoscopic spinal surgery.

ISMISS is also engaged in a number of professional events, including the upcoming 2017 WCMISST Intermediate Meeting on Minimally Invasive Spine Surgery. The event is scheduled for May 3, 2017, in Paris, France, at the Cité Internationale Universitaire de Paris. Attendees will have the opportunity to attend lectures and sessions on a range of topics that include sacroiliac pain, stem cells, minimally invasive fusion and spine procedures, and more. In addition, the event includes cadaver workshops to provide minimally invasive demonstrations and training.
