Re-fitting a classic literature into that eBook format.

“ A Hunger Artist ” text transformed into that of a continuous-scroll eBook format
In designing an eBook home for this particular scholastic text selection, I approached it via the touring lens of passersby admiring grand neon signage in the modern streets of LA. Taking into consideration the short-story’s place in classic literature, it was important that evocativeness played throughout the reader experience.

Penned by Franz Kafka, “A Hunger Artist” is a historical examination of the circus spectacle – more specifically, the practice of ‘fasting’ and its perceived societal significance surrounding the art. Like the author himself puts it, the protagonist’s perception of passersby’s reactions to his performance manifests through the writer’s struggle to comprehend his passing heyday.
