This type of trend is common in other major industries, such as manufacturing and technology, and usually provides financial benefits and improvements in production efficiency. However, the food industry has not followed the trend of these other industries so far. Local food production certainly has some benefits, but it is relatively inefficient, which could be an issue in a world with rapidly increasing population.
