Two Popular Destinations in Budapest

A US Navy officer, David F. Baucom, RADM, has traveled to numerous destinations worldwide both in his professional and private life. Rear Admiral David Baucom counts Budapest as his favorite city.

Budapest is one of the most beautiful and culturally vibrant cities in all of Europe. First-time travelers to what many call the “Paris of the East” should consider taking the time to visit the following destinations.

Home to some of the city’s most renowned monuments and museums, Castle Hill is one of the most frequented areas of Budapest. Two structures that stand out in the area are the 18th-century Buda Castle and the late 19th-century Fisherman’s Bastion, each of which boasts impressive architectural aesthetics. Castle Hill also offers visitors the opportunity to view many beautiful statues.

The Hungarian National Museum, originally founded in 1802, has been in its current building since 1847. Among the museum’s most prominent exhibits is the Royal Regalia, which includes the Crown of St. Stephen, as well as Beethoven’s grand piano, which was owned later in history by Hungarian composer Franz Liszt.
