Local Initiatives for Biodiversity, Research and Development (LI-BIRD) invites creative designers or artists to create a logo and visual identity presenting and branding Begnas and Rupa Watershed Area.

OVERVIEW
The Begnas-Rupa lake watershed area in Kaski is home to 128 species of plant and 150 species of butterfly, 104 species of bird, 34 species of mammal and 13 species of fish, which is underpinned by varied microclimates and ecological niches across the elevation ranges from 600-1400 masl. Farmers grow 63 varieties of rice, 17 varieties of finger millet, 12 varieties of taro, and several other crop, vegetable, and fruit species. Besides the two lakes, the landscape comprises of community forests, rice terraces, agroforestry, maize and millet based rainfed farming system and organic coffee farms. This is further enriched by wild and on-farm biodiversity and the associated traditional knowledge. To recognize and communicate the aesthetic value of the landscape and the role of ecosystem goods and services it provides for rural economy in the landscape, a unified landscape brand is needed. Therefore, we are developing a logo that best captures the reality of the watershed.
The landscape logo designed will be the cornerstone of the landscape branding strategy adopted to elevate the value of goods and services produced in the landscape. The logo will serve as a landscape brand that will raise the awareness on the importance of integrated watershed management to local, national and international audience. The logo will capture the value of biodiversity conservation and sustainable development, rural ecotourism, and local products of the watershed. The goods and services featuring the logo will abide by specific production and sourcing standards including a guarantee of local origin from the watersheds and practices of sustainable production and re-investment in the conservation of the landscape. By buying a product with the landscape brand, the consumer will not only be assured with a high quality product, but also become a valuable contributor to a local effort for sustainable management of the Begnas and Rupa Watershed.

THEME OF THE LOGO
The logo should represent, provide branding, inform and disseminate the agroecological diversity, products and services available in the Begnas and Rupa Watershed Area to larger group of people (Local, national and international) representing different interest groups.
