UX/UI Process: Mobile App & Prototype

THE CHALLENGE:
Our client, LWV (League of Women Voters), was experiencing poor engagement on their digital properties.  They wanted to increase and track engagement between constituents, voters, policy makers, readers, and LWV Members, to catalyze positive action, and to educate, encourage and inspire people to express interest, support causes and to take action, through sharing their personal stories.

SOLUTION:
Enable people to easily learn and post user-generated content, by giving them customizable tools, to make meaningful contributions, where conversation pushes ideas forward, and words still matter.

BENEFITS:
By prohibiting personal/partisan attacks and by providing people with a safe, powerful tool for creating and sharing customizable person-centered stories, it will educate, engage and encourage people to take political action on a variety of topics.

Project Duration:  2 weeks

Survey created in Typeform
Since 75% of our surveyees took our survey on their mobile device and 61% of our said they accessed their news through social media, we felt as though the new platform needed to be a mobile app, which would have easily accessible, up to date news, at all times.

We didn't want to give too many sign in options, so since 78% surveyees said that they contributed/commented/posted on Facebook, we chose to only give one option of linking to facebook, when signing in.
Since majority of our surveyees (36%) were not fans of discussing politics, and since the topics of Healthcare and the environment were both favored above politics, we felt we needed to take a step back, to figure out what would engage the target market (18-24yr/old women).
CONDUCTING INTERVIEWS
FINAL DELIVERABLE:
Clickable wireframe prototype for a mobile app

PROTOTYPE:  https://invis.io/876YYA6KT

SUCCESSES:
Easy to navigate wireframes

FAILURES:
Could have asked better survey questions, but didn’t realize until after the fact, and it was too late to go back and do/send out another survey

Interviews – only ended up being with LWV members – not enough time to do additional interviews

NEXT STEPS:
Add an anonymous Feature

I wanted to take things a bit further, so I decided to do some visual design work for the app as well.

MOODBOARD:
I created this for inspiration for the visual design work
