With leadership experience spanning diverse areas of petroleum engineering,
Ivor Ellul guides CiSK Ventures, Ltd., in Houston. Ivor Ellul maintains a strong presence in his professional community and serves as chair of the Society of Petroleum Engineers – Gulf Coast Section’s (SPE-GCS) board of directors. Reflecting the impact of economic trends on an industry experiencing a significant downturn, SPE-GCS took action in creating Members in Transition (MiT) initiative in February 2016.

The program provides members with direct assistance in job-seeking in a highly competitive environment, through regular seminars and software training access. In addition, members are provided with potential funding pathways designed to boost entrepreneurial activity. In tandem with the Houston Technology Center (HTC) business incubator, MiT has created the Ideas Launch Pad. Members submit their abstract ideas and the most promising are selected to pitch to the HTC. Once established as an HTC client, opportunities emerge in the venture capital and angel investment spheres.

Speaking with Rigzone about the initiative in July, Mr. Ellul noted that four ideas are presently working their way through the HTC pipeline. They relate to drilling technologies, airborne monitoring of facilities, enhanced oil recovery, and real-time drilling decision-making.
