Three Games to Watch for the Bears in 2016

After a lackluster 6-10 campaign last season, coach John Fox leads the Chicago Bears into a 2016 campaign that could bring brighter days for the team. Below are three important games for the Bears this year, and all of them occur before the team’s bye in week nine.

-Houston Texans on September 11. The Bears open the season on the road against the Texas. This game is a dichotomy of quarterbacks, with Jay Cutler in his 11th season looking to prove he’s still worthy of being the Chicago starter and Brock Osweiler in his first full-time gig with the Texans, also trying to prove he’s got what it takes. The Texans are coming off a 2015 season that saw them make a playoff run, while the Bears hope this game will serve as a springboard to a postseason push of their own.

-Dallas Cowboys on September 25. Two of the most storied franchises in the NFL lock horns in week three at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, and in prime time. Look for the Bears defensive line to try to keep Tony Romo in check, while the offense hopes to exploit a Cowboys team that ranked in the lower third in the league against the rush last season.

-Minnesota Vikings on October 31. In a pivotal week eight showdown at home before the bye, the Bears get their first crack at the 2015 NFC North champions, the Minnesota Vikings. This a litmus test game for a team looking to change its fortunes and turn things around from a year ago. A win over last season’s division champs would go a long way toward accomplishing just that.
