Alliance for Better Long Term Care

As president of the Med Tech Ambulance Service, Gary Reis oversees the day-to-day operations of the private ambulance company. Based in Rhode Island, the Alliance for Better Long Term Care is dedicated to enhancing the experience of the people who participate in home hospice programs or who live in long-term care facilities. Since its founding in 1979, the nonprofit alliance has fought against financial exploitation, neglect, and abuse in the long-term care system. Staffed by both full-time employees and volunteers, it provides a number of resources for people in long-term care, including the Building Bridges Program. A learning experience for children and a way for senior citizens in nursing facilities to share their life experiences, the program partners with local facilities, schools, and community groups. Each month, the participants visit and do projects with seniors as a way to understand and learn from the elderly members of the community, as well as develop a love of volunteering and outreach.
