In 2016 they asked me to illustrate a commemorative shirt. I talked them into using 3 colors instead of two or one. White, black and gold ink. I'm really happy with this one, and more importantly, so are they.
Below are comps and idea exploration examples. The creative brief with the group included mentioning some very technical and scientific aspects to art. Nature, percussion, rhythm and melody. Plugging in a guitar to a tree. Stuff like that.
My immediate idea was to incorporate the solar system in some way, scientific diagram data (the pulsar map from Voyager satallites showing our solar systems position relative to several known Pulsar stars - the lines with the dots and dashes) and then link it together with musical instruments (record player) and terra-firma related elements (topographic lines). This whole project took about 3 hours from sketch to approval.
