Coffee Press Exploded View

For my final project in the class, I chose to focus on doing an exploded view of a french coffee press. It has 6 components: A carafe, a plunger top, a screen, two additional pieces for the plunger and a cork trivet.

So far, I've drawn the plunger top, the handle of the carafe, part of the mesh piece, and the bottom metal piece that holds the plunger parts in place. The gradient mesh tool is my new best friend.

The most difficult thing I've come across so far is trying to drawn the spirl ring around one of my components. I think I have figure it out, but I am sure it will be far from perfect.
Here is my final drawing. The hardest thing for me on this project was drawing the coil filter and it is the last thing I attempted. The other hard part was trying to have the carafe resemble glass. I used a gradient mesh, but am still not 100% satisfied with it.I have drawn a wine glass and a marble before, but this is a different concept altogether.
