Charles Jensen is the national founder of Politics on the Rocks (POTR), based in Phoenix, Arizona. As president since 2007 of POTR, which is Arizona's largest Republican and Conservative networking organization, Charles Jensen remains heavily involved in politics and maintains membership with numerous organizations, one of which is Americans for Tax Reform (ATR).
Founded in 1985 by Grover Norquist, ATR opposes all tax increases and wants a system where taxes are simpler, lower, and more visible than they are today. The nonprofit organization also believes in reducing government power as expressed in taxation.
In April 2016, ATR joined a coalition with 20 other conservative, free-market organizations requesting that Congress make the Free File Program Act permanent. Since the program began more than five years ago, more than 40 million taxpayers have used the program and saved $1.3 billion in preparation costs. Available to about 70 percent of taxpayers or those who make less than $62,000, this program also saves the government hundreds of millions of dollars in administrative costs. Individuals gain access at no cost to electronic filing software applications offered by leading private companies.
