A House Without Function
Background: In the present time the architectural discourse has been shifted to a purely political and programmatic agenda. You are requested to take an antithectical position in order to think about architecture in its most essential and fundamental values. The current tendency implies a hierarchical order that doesn't consider composition and tectonics until the end of the development of a project. The aim is to revert the normal sequence of the design process. Architectural choices will define a project based on pure spatial qualities rather than economic or programmatic organisation.
Task: You are requested to design a house. The house will be a place suitable for human scale. A primary space that is conceived through your own intimate, personal and critical vision of architecture. Is it then possible to imagine architecture without site and program? If so how can they complement initial spatial qualities? In the final moment you should investigate these questions and reflect upon them.

A House Without Function
Everyone has their natural space,
an extent of corporality,
which we carry with us everywhere.
We beget our space by subsisting.
The world is not immaculate and we have the need to shelter and protect ourselves from it.
Thus we form our bubble.
First, in the form of crude sheds and after satisfying our primary physiological needs, by accertion,
the shelter becomes a form of expression.
We begin to profile ourselves and use our space to make statements for various purposes like power and politics...
The bubble is a metaphor of our space of existence
-the fluid
which we pour into different receptacles
-our spaces.
People are like a seed of tree growing outwards.
The bubble is aberrant for perception and orientation.
We are trying to find a solid foundation.
Edges and spaces.
We need form.

Každý člověk má kolem sebe přirozený prostor, jakési pole působnosti, které si neustále nosí s sebou. Tím, že člověk je, vytváří kolem sebe svůj prostor.
Svět není ideální, máme potřebu se před ním ukrývat a chránit. Zhmotňujeme si kolem sebe svoji bublinu.
Nejdřívě do primitivních stavení (dětské domečky, chýše..) a po naplnění primárních základních fyziologických potřeb, dostane úkryt novou funkci seberealizace a projevu. Začneme se vymezovat, vyjadřovat postoj, používat ho jako nástroj k dalším záměrům, jako je moc, politika...
Bublina je metaforou našeho existenčního prostoru – lidského fluidu, který přelíváme do různých nádob – prostorů.
Člověk jako semínko, ze kterého vše roste směrem zevnitř ven.
Pro vnímání a orientaci je čistá bublina nepřirozená. Vyhledáváme pevný záchytný bod, hrany a plochy.
Potřebujeme formu. Racio.
Člověk společenský. Interakce fluidů.
