Monumentypo — Typography Experiments

Project idea:
Monumentypo is my experiments with typography composition in 3D workflow and a kind of preparation for working with a stencil on real walls. The main question for me was how to create this composition by not in a digital way, so I also added the description about tools and stencil shapes below. In my Cinema 4D scene, I used ancient greek sculptures of Sofocle, Poseidon, Aphrodite, Apollo, Atlas and their names as the theme of typography behind models. As the base font of typography composition, I used rebuilt Helvetica typeface decorated with stylized lines from some gothic fonts that create visual balance and make the composition more interesting. I also want to thank Clay Master (Turbo Squid author) for amazing 3D models.

How to create:
I think the best way to create one-off stencil is using some self-adhesive vinyl. The pattern can be cut using ordinary scissors and utility knife or with a cutting plotter. Notice that independent parts inside of a cut-out hole of characters can't float, so that's why they need bridges in stencil but I think it's a good practice to fill them with marker after peeling. Lines shouldn't be in stencil, I just added them for demonstration purpose.
