I love illustration, especially when it can be a unique representation of someone's life. When Brandon over at Novel Hill requested some thank you notes to send his clients, I knew I wanted to create a card that would be representative of the fun, but truly chaotic nature of running your own business. As I sat looking at the pile supplies and coffee cups on my table, I realized that my own mess would be the ultimate inside joke: an elegant thank you card design based on the true-to-life clutter that surrounds a freelancer. Sometimes when we try to temporarily put a project on hold to manage the 'business-y' things like writing notes to clients and paying bills, our desks start to look like something exploded between the various pens, in-progress sketches, and coffee cups that "I'm still drinking, so please don't touch it!"
